I’m getting there!
No birthdays or special events to attend so the kiddies were able to hang out with me today! Fortunately all of the fence sections were put back up and I was mainly nailing stuff together so I didn’t have the full collection of power tools and saws lying around that they could trip over.
I did have to give them some busy work though. Rose & Alice both wanted to hammer nails into the fence, they tried hard but their aim was off slightly.
Little Monster can’t be trusted with a real hammer, so he got the rubber mallet. I drove some nails into one of the old posts and let him bang away at them for a while. It kept him busy for around 15 minutes which is just great. It’s fun to watch, his face lit up every time he actually hit a nail!
As for the fence, hooray, the end is in sight! The only tasks left to do now are to cut the top of the posts off, put the ‘runner’ boards back in along the bottom and fill in the post holes with cement to make them flush with the neighbours driveway. I’ll be putting plastic sheet down on my side and then covering that with crushed rock or bark. It’s annoying having plants along that fence so I’m glad I cleaned it all out.
The fence looks ‘straightish‘ now as well! One post is off by about 1 cm which is annoying but not that noticeable. I’m quite happy with the job I’ve done on it, plus it will end up only costing my neighbour and I around $70 each to have all this done.
