An Elephant Bookshelf

So this is my new project that I’ve been thinking about the past few days between work, a kids bookshelf shaped like an elephant, what do you think?

An Australian home + garden show had a design similar to this one of a dinosaur last year, you can find a great video of it here. Rather than just copy that one outright, I thought I’d have a crack at coming up with my own design. Ideally I’d like to come up with 4-5 different animals, but I’ll wait and see just how this one comes out first.

It should be relatively cheap & easy to build, one big sheet of ply, some screws & some paint and I think it will be good to go. My design has it stand roughly 1200x1000mm but it should be relatively simple to make it smaller or larger depending on where it will go.

I intend on completing the model and then building on Thursday & Friday this week, (also I want to shoot my first video for Youtube as well), so fingers crossed it all comes together nicely. 🙂

What do you think? Can you see any issues with the template? Any major design changes I should make before I start cutting?
