About

Hi there!

I’m Mario, from thewoodfather.com.

I’ve been working wood for years, but I also love designing solutions to problems, and doing a little bit of coding where I can.

This site used to be a blog, (if you’re clever you’ll still find all the older pages 😉) but I’ve cleaned it up now to only show a couple key pages, for projects that I’m really proud of.

WoodFathers Jig is a box joint making jig which I designed from scratch, and it isn’t a stretch to say it is one of the easiest and best jigs out there, amateur or pro, you get fantastic results.

Fit It, is custom software I wrote a few years back, which lays out your project cut list on your given work pieces, in the blink of an eye. It still blows my mind how well it works.

You can buy both WoodFathers Jig and Fit It on my website, and check out more of my work on my YouTube channel!

If you’d like to reach out, use the form below. 😊

Cheers, Mario

  1. Good morning/afternoon/evening,

It is just a few hours difference between this Mario in Southern California, USA and yourself. I discovered your channel while watching some of Mark’s (Dainer Made) Youtube videos. I am very interested in your Fit It program. I noticed that it is a few years old and was wondering if it is still available. I am running Windows 10 on my laptop.

I was bitten by the woodworking bug about two years ago and have been primarily trying to duplicate items my wife has seen off of Pintrest or other similar sights. I’ve been lucky, so far, and have done halfway decently, but am in the middle of trying my first project via some “plans”. They came with a cut list, but no info regarding how much BF or a layout. I am currently trying to work out the best way to get the most bang for my buck on some graph paper and failing miserably. It has been probably 8 hours of drawing, erasing, and redrawing. Not fun.

Not sure if you received this via email. I tried sending this that way, but the reCAPTCHA did not work properly. I got the green checkmark but then it looked like it never sent. ???

Any info or help you may provide would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you and take care.

    1. Hi Mario! First off, great name! 😉 Yes, Fit It is still available, I’ve thought about removing it as it is a bit older now, but to be honest, I still find it useful so I think it is still worthwhile. I have spent some time upgrading and modernising it, however after starting a new job I just can’t commit to when I can launch the new version. When that does happen, I’ll probably share it to those who purchased the original beforehand as well. There is a trial version which you can download and test out, to see if it works for your computer or not, really though, as long as you have Java installed, it should be fine. Cheers, Mario!

      1. Thank you, and likewise about our name! I did end up downloading the trial version and it did work on my laptop. I therefore made the purchase. Looking forward to being able to use it!

        Take care!

  2. Hi Mario, I just stumbled across your video then came to your site to check out where you are. I’m in Officer, near Pakenham. Thought I’d say hi and I’ll be sure to watch more and subscribe. Thanks for making so many great videos. Good to see another Aussie woodworker on YouTube. I’ve never made videos myself but I’ve been woodworking for my whole life and love to see what others are up to. I’ll have to make one of your single blade jigs. All these years and I’ve refused to get a dado stack so I’ve often thought about making a single blade box joint jig. Your video will sure come in handy if I ever do. If only there were more hours in the day!
    Regards
    Andrew

    1. Hi Andrew, cheers for stopping by and thanks for subscribing, much appreciated. I only do this for fun so it’s good to hear that someone is getting a little entertainment out of it! Give that jig a try, you won’t be disappointed. The best part is you can knock it up from scrap wood in an afternoon. I feel your pain on there not being enough hours in the day, though if there were more I’d probably just sleep them all away… All the best, Mario

  4. Hey Mario,
I was just wondering if you would ship to Canberra? I’m pretty desperate for one and I’m not sure on how/where to get one made here..

    Cheers

    1. Hi Mai, I actually can’t take any more orders at the moment, I’ve just got no time to make them. If things change I’ll let you know.
As for interstate, I can build you a box, but you would have to take care of all the delivery arrangements, details on my ‘buy’ page. Cheers, Mario
